Discovering the Spatial Association Between Residential Space and Urban Amenity by Using Baidu Trajectory Big Data

Investigating the spatial association between urban residential spaces and various urban amenities contributes to a deeper understanding of the unequal spatial distribution of urban amenities. The study shows that there is a spatial consistency between the static supply - demand matching and dynamic travel patterns of various amenities. Commercial amenities in the main urban area and suburbs are mainly characterized by “high balance” and “supply exceeding demand”. Healthcare amenities are primarily located in the main urban area, yet the supply remains insufficient. The overall supply of park and green space amenities is inadequate. From the perspective of residents' attributes, high- and middle-income groups generally have shorter travel distances, but they are more likely to choose long - distance travel. This study fills the gap in fully exploring the spatial association patterns between urban residential spaces and amenity spaces from the perspectives of dynamic travel flows and static supply - demand relationships.
