Ground surface deformation monitoring and analysis of Yunnan province based on time-series InSAR
This study presents a comprehensive analysis of ground deformation in Yunnan Province, China, using InSAR (Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar) data acquired from Sentinel-1A between January 2018 and August 2022. The research focuses on monitoring large-scale surface deformation across the entire province by processing data from four orbital paths, aiming to obtain annual deformation rates and identify temporal deformation patterns. The results show that the majority of monitoring points exhibited average deformation rates within ±150 mm/year, with areas of significant subsidence reaching up to -80 mm/year. In particular, three key regions—Kunming, Yongshan County, and Qujing—were identified as prone to geological hazards due to substantial deformation patterns. The analysis reveals varying deformation behaviors across different regions, including rapid subsidence near geological fault zones, which could potentially lead to ground cracks and infrastructure displacement. This study highlights the effectiveness of InSAR for monitoring and analyzing ground deformation and its potential for identifying areas at risk of geological hazards in Yunnan Province.
