Deciphering the origin of the high capacities seen in magnesium borate polyanion cathodes
Despite promising electrochemistry we show that no Mg-ion deintercalation occurs in magnesium transition-metal borate cathodes. The observed capacity is instead attributed to reactions at the amorphous surface that are enhanced by ball milling.
