1,2,4,5-Tetrazinylene-linked bis(arylmethylamine): synthesis and electronic properties
N, N′-dimethyl- N, N′-dianisyl-3,6-diamino-substituted s-tetrazine (1 NMe ), and the related compounds, N-aryl-3-amino-substituted s-tetrazines (2–4) and N, N ′-dianisyl-3,6-diamino-substituted s-tetrazine (1 NH ), were synthesized and characterized as a new class of s-tetrazine derivatives with amphoteric redox properties. The redox potentials were tunable by varying the N-substituents, and in particular, 1 NMe exhibited a multi-redox activity. The combined spectroelectrochemical and density functional theory studies indicate that the charge-localization took place in the one-electron oxidized state of 1 NMe .
