The urgency of fighting urogenital sexually transmitted infections (review)

Objective — to emphasize the importance of multidisciplinary collaboration between dermatovenereologists, urologists, and obstetriciangynecologists in combating urogenital sexually transmitted infections (UGSTIs). Materials and methods. Statistical and epidemiological modeling of UGSTI incidence in Ukraine under conditions of wellestablished cooperation among dermatovenereologists, urologists, and obstetriciangynecologists. Results and discussion. In the context of the ongoing reform of the Ukrainian healthcare system, the key to effective control of UGSTIs lies in the development of close cooperation between dermatovenereologists, urologists, and obstetriciangynecologists, supported by the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, the National Health Service of Ukraine (NHSU), and the Public Health Center. To ensure maximal detection of UGSTI cases among patients with inflammatory diseases of the genitourinary tract, it is essential to implement proper diagnostic protocols in the clinical laboratories of regional clinical hospitals in accordance with guidelines approved by the Ministry of Health of Ukraine. Ongoing professional education of related specialists remains a pressing need. Conclusions. The maximum detection of patients with STDs by allied health professionals can only be ensured if the laboratory sector and physicians work in a high-quality and responsible manner, based on the relevant instructions and guidelines approved by the Ministry of Health of Ukraine in close cooperation with the dermatovenereological organisation and continuous improvement at the departments of dermatovenereology of higher medical education institutions.
