A Negami-type splitting formula for the Jones and Ribbon graph polynomials

Abstract Negami found an elegant splitting formula for the Tutte polynomial. We present an analogue of this for Bollobás and Riordan’s ribbon graph polynomial, and for the transition polynomial. From this we deduce a splitting formula for the Jones polynomial.

Abstract

Abstract Negami found an elegant splitting formula for the Tutte polynomial. We present an analogue of this for Bollobás and Riordan’s ribbon graph polynomial, and for the transition polynomial. From this we deduce a splitting formula for the Jones polynomial.
