INFÂNCIA EM FRENTE ÀS TELAS: DESAFIOS PARA O DESENVOLVIMENTO MOTOR, FUNÇÕES EXECUTIVAS E OBESIDADE

Currently, technology and media are an integral part of the lives of infants, young children, preschoolers, and school-aged children. Objective: This study aimed to conduct a narrative literature review, investigating the relationships between screen time, motor development, executive functions, and obesity in childhood. Method: Data were obtained through online searches in the Google Scholar, PubMed, and SciELO databases, considering publications from 2000 to 2025. A total of 45 articles and 2 informational guides on appropriate screen time for children and the recommended daily physical activity time were selected to construct the narrative of the study. Conclusion: Increased screen use and body weight, combined with decreased motor activities such as outdoor play and sports participation, are negatively associated with children’s motor, cognitive, and social development. Simple strategies, such as reducing excessive screen time and increasing outdoor activity, can be significant preventive measures.
