Draft Genome Sequence of a Low-Cost Substrate-Adapted Microalga, Microchloropsis salina BSL(N)103, Isolated from the Coast of Geoje Island

Recent research on microalgae has been activelyNannochloropsis species serve as model organisms in photosynthetic microalgal systems and synthetic biology. Here, we report the draft whole-genome sequence of Microchloropsis salina (formerly Nannochloropsis salina) BSL(N)103, a microalga exhibiting superior biomass and eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) productivity under low-cost substrate conditions. The draft genome of M. salina BSL(N)103 was assembled into 181 contigs, with a total length of 29,470,772 bp and a GC content of 55.15%, comprising 8,291 protein-coding genes.Additionally, 34 rRNA genes and 98 tRNA genes were identified. These results provide insights into unsaturated fatty acid metabolism and support strategies to enhance EPA production using cost-effective substrates.
