Module Development for Barayti and Baryasyon ng Wika (Variety and Variation of Language): Analysis of Least Mastered Competencies

The primary aim of this research was to create educational material for BSED Filipino major students taking up the course “Barayti at Baryasyon ng Wika” (Variety and Variation of Language). The researcher utilized the modified ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation) to develop an instructional material in the form of a student module. The aim was to focus on the course competencies with the least proficiency demonstrated by students based on curriculum criteria. This was determined using a researcher-made evaluation test. Five teachers who were teaching the course and three experts in instructional materials development assessed the module based on criteria such as clarity, content, structure, and design. The module (M = 4.84) received excellent overall ratings, indicating that the material was appropriate, engaging, and beneficial for both classroom use and independent learning. Educators and learners offered favorable responses, highlighting the materials’ significance, visual appeal, and promotion of analytical thinking. This study highlights the significance of language learning resources that are tailored to specific contexts and based on competencies. It advocates for more support for teacher-driven content development to enhance the quality of instruction, especially in evolving educational settings.
