Overcoming Barriers to Grant Writing in Developing and Low-Income Regions
Non-profit organizations in developing and low-income regions often encounter barriers to grant funding, from cultural and language differences to resource limitations and challenges in credibility with international donors. This article explores strategies for overcoming these barriers, including cultural sensitivity, resource maximization, local capacity-building, and partnerships. Drawing on case studies from Kenya, India, and Nigeria, it demonstrates how community engagement, adaptive strategies, and collaborative approaches can transform obstacles into opportunities for sustainability. Positioned within debates on equity and inclusion in philanthropy, the article contributes to academic discourse while providing practitioners with practical tools for navigating constraints and strengthening competitiveness in the global funding environment.
