Uncertainty in Energy-Efficient Job Shop Scheduling: A Literature Review and A Framework
The purpose of this study is to review recent energy-efficient scheduling contributions in job shops and the inclusion of uncertainty or dynamic events in literature. This research carries on the work of previous review papers, surveying energy-efficient job shop scheduling published in the last 3 years up to date, with the findings filtered and analyzed based on their job shop subtype, objective functions, and the inclusion of a source of uncertainty. Degrees of uncertainty and sources of dynamic events in the manufacturing environment are discussed, along with the possible relationship of the consequent classifications with the review's findings. A Scheduling Uncertainty Matrix is developed to address the appropriate scheduling strategies to handle different degrees of uncertainty in the manufacturing environment. A proposed energy-efficient scheduling general framework is presented as well. This review articles proposes fresh insight into including uncertainty in the optimization of energy-efficient scheduling from the manufacturing environment's perspective, proposing potential future research directions.
