Programación del ventilador en ventilación pediátrica unipulmonar

Objective: To provide evidence-based guidance for appropriate ventilator programming in pediatric patients undergoing one-lung ventilation. Method: A non-systematic literature search was conducted using the PubMed and Cochrane metasearch engines on pediatric one-lung ventilation and pediatric thoracic surgery, using the following terms as reference: tidal volume, respiratory rate, inspiration-expiration ratio, positive end-expiratory pressure, fraction of inspired oxygen, and ventilatory mode. Conclusion: One-lung ventilation in pediatrics is challenging. The anatomical and physiological characteristics of pediatric patients make this type of ventilation an art form, designed to achieve optimal surgical and anesthetic conditions and obtain the best patient outcomes.
