Static and Free Vibration Behaviors of Bio-Inspired Helicoidal Composite Curved Beams
The paper investigates bio-inspired helicoidal composite curved beams’ free vibration and bending characteristics for the first time. Beam displacement is analyzed using a higher-order shear deformation theory. Three distinct helicoidal patterns-recursive, exponential and linear-arc systematically evaluated. The governing equations are formulated through Lagrange’s equation, and Ritz-polynomial functions derived from the Fibonacci series are employed to articulate the displacement variation. The research examines the influence of various factors, including stacking sequence, material orthotropy ratio, length-to-thickness ratio, and curvature ratio, on bio-inspired helicoidal composite curved beams’ frequency and deflection properties. These innovative findings provide essential insights for the engineering community and researchers, enhancing the development of structurally sound and cost-effective helicoidal designs.
