An optimized and affordable process for the synthesis of DL-Cloprostenol sodium for animal producers
An improved and scalable process for the synthesis of DL-cloprostenol sodium salt has been developed. The route furnishes a 1:1 mixture of diastereomers in nine steps, achieving an overall yield of 44 % from (−)-Corey lactone diol. The synthetic strategy avoids repeated purification steps and employs a single column purification, thereby reducing solvent consumption and minimizing solvent waste. Owing to its efficiency and operational simplicity, the process is suitable for large-scale production and offers advantages over previously reported methods. • Introduced first time the developed novel process for the synthesis of DL-Cloprostenol sodium salt with 44 % yields. • The total synthesis was completed in 9 steps. • The present synthetic route can avoid repeat purifications and involves single-column purification. • This potential drug is useful for animal producers. • The proposed method successfully used in industries for large scale production.
