Forging a New Path: Evolving Training Experiences and Challenges in Cardiac Amyloidosis Fellowships
• Delayed diagnosis or misdiagnosis of amyloidosis is not uncommon. • There is a general need for a deeper understanding of amyloidosis, beyond that which can be gained through a traditional general cardiology or advanced heart failure fellowship. • Outside of amyloidosis centers, there is a disparity in access to expert clinicians, available therapies and clinical trials. • A specialized amyloidosis track may lead to improvement in clinical care, research and access for patients with this not-so-rare disease.
