Digital Twins in Tracking Objects in Industrial Settings: From Tracking Items to Tracking Work in Progress
Digital Twins have been used in industrial or manufacturing settings as digital replicas of physical objects, either material or machinery. This work proposes a platform that builds on information of lower-level digital twins to inform and contextualize upper-level digital twins. The proposed approach is demonstrated through a case study platform that aims to be able to track the work in progress status of manufacturing orders, and is a work in progress work which is being developed in the scope of a project in the textile and clothing (T&C) industrial sector. The goal is to demonstrate the feasibility of inferring upper-level digital twins from lower-level digital twins already in place in industries of the T&C sector.
