Shock séptico pediátrico, puntos claves para el anestesiólogo: una revisión narrativa de la literatura
Pediatric septic shock continues to be one of the most important causes of morbidity and mortality worldwide. In 2024, an international consensus updated the criteria to define sepsis and septic shock in children, introducing the Phoenix Sepsis Score, thus supporting global collaborative efforts to identify and treat this complex clinical entity in this at-risk population. There are few publications that address the role of the anesthesiologist in the management of pediatric patients with sepsis or septic shock. The present review aims to be an approach for the anesthesiologist who faces these patients, assuming an active role as a member of a multidisciplinary team, which ensures the adequate management of local resources, application of monitoring and advanced perioperative therapies, along with adherence to specific updated protocols; all essential elements to improve outcomes for this vulnerable population.
