Model-Based Decision Making for Industrial Processes in SMEs by Combining PPR with Performance Indicators
The world is facing a series of industrial challenges. Competitive pressure, a shortage of skilled workers and financial limits, especially for small and medium sized enterprises, simultaneously cause the desire to increase efficiency and the appearance of challenges. The key drivers of solutions are digital transformations and optimization processes. This paper focuses on the combination of a PPR-based data model, which is equivalent to a comprehensive product twin, with performance indicators. This symbiosis enables the use of data from the complete life cycle of a product, it´s creation processes and the resources used within to generate useful information. This information forms the basis for company-relevant decisions. Both the basis for the product twin model as well as the performance indicator integration process is developed in order to achieve such information. Using the developed processes, any performance indicators with associated data can be integrated into the model to form the basis for decisions about optimization or transformation activities.
