Chemical redox agent-mediated dealloying enables structural tuning of nanoporous Mg for hydrogen storage

We synthesized nanoporous Mg via chemical dealloying, utilizing various redox-active aromatic hydrocarbons. The nanoporous structure offers a high specific surface area and shortened hydrogen diffusion pathways, leading to enhanced hydrogen sorption kinetics. The resulting performance closely correlates with redox-driven structural features, highlighting the importance of agent selection for optimising hydrogen storage behaviour.

Abstract

We synthesized nanoporous Mg via chemical dealloying, utilizing various redox-active aromatic hydrocarbons. The nanoporous structure offers a high specific surface area and shortened hydrogen diffusion pathways, leading to enhanced hydrogen sorption kinetics. The resulting performance closely correlates with redox-driven structural features, highlighting the importance of agent selection for optimising hydrogen storage behaviour.
