Electroosmotic flow of Eyring–Powell fluid in stenotic arteries: Effects of variable permeability and an extended Arrhenius relation

This paper offers a preliminary investigation of the electroosmotic Eyring–Powell fluid (blood model) in a stenotic artery within a porous medium with variable permeability. The main goal is to study the flow of a non-Newtonian fluid (Eyring–Powell) occurring in a stenosed artery in a porous medium with permeability that varies with time and an extended Arrhenius relation. Governing equations in a situation of mild stenosis were obtained and were subsequently solved numerically by implementing a finite difference technique. The model adopts the extended Arrhenius relation to take into account the temperature-related transport properties. The results depict that the higher Brownian motion will generate a uniform distribution of the low-density lipoprotein, such that the concentration gradient is weak. Such mixing and dispersion may have the potential benefits of targeted drug delivery. The given study is significant because it helps to accumulate knowledge about the complex interaction of hemodynamic phenomena in arteries with diseases.
