The prevention of early and late-onset neonatal bacterial infections play a crucial role in maintaining the health of newborns. Early-onset infections develop within the first days of a newborn's life and are most often caused by bacteria transmitted from the mother during childbirth. Late-onset infections occur several days or weeks after birth, mainly due to contact with infected individuals or environmental exposure. Various measures are used to prevent early infections, including antimicrobial therapy for pregnant women at high risk of transmission and preventive interventions for newborns with an increased risk of infection. Late-onset neonatal bacterial infections are predominantly nosocomial in origin, making infection control measures particularly important. These include proper hand hygiene among healthcare workers, standardization of procedural interventions, and continuous monitoring of antibiotic susceptibility to prevent the emergence and spread of resistant strains.Proper prevention and timely treatment of neonatal infections play a vital role in reducing the risk of complications and improving disease prognosis.
