REABILITAÇÃO ORAL DE PACIENTE COM COMUNICAÇÃO NASOPALATINA UTILIZANDO PRÓTESE OBTURADORA PROVISÓRIA: RELATO DE CASO
Introduction: The use of obturator prostheses is essential in the oral rehabilitation process, especially in cases where there is considerable loss of palatal structure due to congenital defects or results of surgical rehabilitation. This interventional case report aims to present the construction of an obturator prosthesis using elastomer-type molding materials, with methods appropriate to the clinical condition of a male patient with nasopalatine communication. The choice to manufacture a temporary obturator prosthesis aims to immediately meet the aesthetic and functional demands of the patient. The methodology employed will involve the use of molding materials, stock teeth and thermopolymerizable acrylic resin. Expected results include good adaptation of the obturator prosthesis, occlusal functionality and positive aesthetics for the patient, in addition to improved phonation. Factors such as prosthesis retention and possible complications, such as anti-aesthetic factors, discomfort, displacement, instability and occlusal dysfunction, will be observed. It is concluded that the technique described represents a good alternative for temporary rehabilitation in patients with nasopalatine communication, promoting comfort and aesthetic satisfaction.
