The role of German cultural standards in learning of the German language

In a globalized, multicultural world, intercultural understanding plays an important role in foreign language learning. The role of cultural standards in foreign language learning has always been a very relevant topic in intercultural communication, as cultural standards affect not only language behavior, but also foreign language comprehension, interpretation, and appropriate actions in another linguistic and cultural community. Cultural standards are an integral part of foreign language learning. Cultural standards are relevant in foreign language teaching because they help us better understand the behaviors, values, and expectations of people from different cultures – and this is more important than ever in our increasingly globalized world. Their importance in learning foreign languages is undeniable, as no language exists in isolation from culture. The purpose of our study is to analyze German cultural standards and determine their importance when learning the German language. To study German cultural standards, the descriptive method was used, which consisted of a detailed study, recording and presentation of phenomena, objects or processes related to the German realities of cultural standards that are necessary for learning German as a foreign language. The researcher also applied system analysis, which involves considering the object of study as an integral system, taking into account all its elements, the links between them and the influence of the external environment. Synthesis and descriptive method were also used. Thus, learning a foreign language, including German, involves more than memorizing vocabulary and mastering grammar; it requires understanding the cultural environment in which the language functions. This is especially true for German, which is closely related to the cultural standards, values, and social norms of its country. Understanding these cultural standards not only enhances language competence, but also contributes to more effective communication, translation, and integration in German‑speaking society. Integrating German cultural standards into your German language learning is not optional, it is essential.
