The Health and Safety Policy for Federal Public Servants and the Integrated Health Care Subsystem for Federal Public Servants: contributions to the Sustainable Development Goals
Abstract Introduction The implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) requires public entities to ensure adequate working conditions supported by efficient organizational structures. Objective To discuss the paradox between the potential of the Health and Safety Policy for Federal Public Servants (PASS) and the Integrated Health Care Subsystem for Federal Public Servants (SIASS) to contribute to the SDGs and the challenges of their implementation. Methods A qualitative theoretical-reflective essay. Results The implementation of PASS and SIASS faces challenges that limit their transformative potential, necessitating the overcoming of structural barriers, increased investment in resources, and deeper integration with the National Network for Comprehensive Workers’ Health Care (Renastt) to strengthen and align their actions with the SDGs. Conclusion Despite these challenges, PASS and SIASS should not be dismantled but rather reinforced as strategic public policies, as their principles of universality, comprehensiveness, and equity align with the SDGs. However, they require political commitment, sustainable investments, and a cultural shift to transition from a bureaucratic framework to a proactive approach centered on the well-being of federal public servants.
