Setting Evaluation Goals and Objectives in Nonprofit Programs
Clear evaluation goals and objectives provide the foundation for effective nonprofit program assessment. This article examines how applying SMART criteria—specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound—enhances the clarity and utility of evaluation design. It highlights the role of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) in translating goals into measurable outcomes and demonstrates how structured evaluation plans integrate methodologies, timelines, and reporting strategies. Case examples from literacy, health, vocational, and economic empowerment programs illustrate practical applications. By aligning evaluation objectives with organizational strategies, nonprofits can foster accountability, strengthen decision-making, and enhance long-term sustainability.
