Performance Analysis of IRS-Assisted Multi-Link FSO System Under UAV-Enabled Jamming

In this paper, we present a comprehensive performance analysis of an Intelligent Reflecting Surface (IRS)-assisted multi-link Free Space Optical (FSO) system under conditions of Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV)-enabled jamming. Our proposed system model takes into account atmospheric turbulence, pointing errors, and the effects of IRS on signal reflection. By utilizing the Gamma-Gamma fading model, theoretical and asymptotic expressions for the average bit error rate (ABER) of the system are derived, considering both jamming and nonjamming scenarios. In addition, we model the impact of UAVenabled jammers and analyze the resulting ABER. Numerical results based on Monte Carlo simulations validate our theoretical findings, demonstrating that an increase in the number of IRS reflecting elements significantly enhances ABER performance. However, higher jamming probabilities and an increased number of jammers have an adverse effect on the system's performance. Our findings indicate that increasing the number of IRS reflecting elements and optimizing the IRS position can significantly improve the system's performance under jamming conditions.
