Experiments investigating the effect of particle size distribution on mudflow consolidation based on point cloud data
In response to the emergency response to debris flow disasters and the development and utilization of debris flow deposition areas, a systematic study was conducted on the influence of gradation on the consolidation characteristics of debris flows. A 3D laser scanner was used to obtain point cloud data of debris flows. Parameters such as deposition area, deposition thickness, and deposition width were extracted using the Visual Studio 2017 integrated development environment, and implemented using the C++ high-level programming language. Combining pore water pressure and soil pressure monitoring, a quantitative analysis of the natural consolidation process of sediments in four typical regions of the Bailong River basin was conducted. The study found that: Grain size distribution significantly affects the initial deposition morphology of sediments; the higher the content of coarse grains, the greater the deposition height and the narrower the width; The migration of fine grains leads to internal structural reorganization; when D15/d85 < 2.5, the collapse volume of sediments can reach 10% of the total height; The consolidation rate is positively correlated with grain size distribution; the more coarse grains, the faster the consolidation rate.
