The design of a class of functional neuron and synchronization control under external stimulation

Abstract The effect of coupling of electrical synapse is often equivalent to that of voltage coupling based on resistors, while chemical synapse can be described by field coupled based on inductance coils. Some physical devices can intensify the function in a neuron circuit from the perspective of filed effect or physical property. In this paper, the memristor and Josephson junction are embedded into the FHN neuron circuit to sense and capture the external magnetic effect and electromagnetic radiation respectively. Further, the resistor and inductor are used to connect two neural circuits to express the diversity and complexity of biological synapses. The coupled model in the absence of stimulation presents rich state transitions of unsynchronization, approximate synchronization and complete synchronization, while different types of external magnetic fields or electromagnetic radiation can promote and/or destroy the original synchronization behavior. It is confirmed that the synchronous behavior of coupled neurons depends on the selection of coupling channels and external stimulation. Exploring the biophysical properties of coupled channels is of great significance for further understanding the migration mechanism of neuronal firing activity and preventing neurological diseases.
