B – 130 Assessing the validity of the web-based MAPP Room Memory Test for Spanish-speaking older Latino adults

Abstract Objective Contextual memory decline is an early indicator of Alzheimer’s disease (AD). The web-based MAPP Room Memory Test (MRMT) has been shown to be sensitive to early cognitive changes in preclinical autosomal-dominant AD carriers. This study examines the MRMT’s validity in community-dwelling Spanish-speaking older adults. Method Sixty older Latino adults (Mage=62.8 [SD=8.7], Meducation=15.02 [SD=3.7]) completed the MRMT, which assessed Total Placement (/15), Immediate Object Placement Accuracy (/10), Immediate Object Recognition Accuracy (/30), Delayed Object Placement Accuracy (/5), and Delayed Room Recognition Accuracy (/5). Pearson correlations were used to examine associations among MRMT scores, the MoCA Spanish blind (/22), and RBANS indices. Results Participants demonstrated average MRMT scores of 7.05 (SD=2.62) for Total Placement, 4.31 (SD=1.73) for Immediate Object Placement Accuracy, 17.69 (SD=3.55) for Immediate Object Recognition Accuracy, 2.69 (SD=1.28) for Delayed Object Placement Accuracy, and 4.71 (SD=0.77) for Delayed Room Recognition Accuracy. Total Placement, Immediate Object Placement Accuracy, and Immediate Object Recognition Accuracy showed moderate correlations with RBANS attention (r =.29–.44, p≤.03). Immediate Object Recognition Accuracy was also associated with RBANS immediate memory, visuospatial, language, and delayed memory (r=.28–.46, all p<.05). Delayed Object Placement Accuracy correlated with RBANS immediate memory (r =.33, p=.02). Delayed Room Recognition Accuracy correlated with MoCA (r=.42, p<.05) and several RBANS domains, including immediate and delayed memory, visuospatial, and language (r =.35–.55, all p<.05), supporting the MRMT’s validity. Conclusion Findings provide evidence for the MRMT as a culturally and linguistically appropriate tool for assessing contextual memory among Spanish-speaking older adults and its potential utility in identifying early cognitive changes associated with AD.
