Sustainable Route of Bamboo Dust Utilization Using a Novel Thermo-Electrochemical Process for Value-Added Products

The utilization of bamboo dust as a sustainable resource is crucial in this study since it can be a renewable source of value-added products (VAPs) such as hydrogen, biofuel, and biochar. This approach focuses on how thermal and electrical energies simultaneously interact with bamboo dust. It describes the conversion of bamboo dust into VAPs, assisting chemistry’s adaptation to the thermo-electrochemical process (TEP). TEP aims to efficiently use bamboo dust to produce VAPs by enhancing the rate of chemical reactions. The TEP is more effective than traditional pyrolysis because it uses molten salt electrolysis (MSE) to reduce the decomposition temperature. Bamboo dust is suitable for producing VAPs due to its thermal stability. The TEP enhances the conversion of bamboo dust by combining thermolysis and MSE. This study explores the experimental feasibility of a novel method for bamboo to VAP conversion through the TEP. After conducting the experiments, it has been reported that gaseous, liquid, and solid forms can be manufactured using bamboo dust. Furthermore, it has been observed that at 380 °C and 500 mA, the TEP achieves a maximum conversion of 84.20%, having 29.40% gaseous, 36.80% liquid, and 18.00% solid products. As a comparison, at 380 °C and 0 mA, pyrolysis achieves only 52.39% total, 19.48% gas, 25.81% liquid, and 7.10% solid conversion. This study explains the effect of temperature and current on the TEP, which converts bamboo dust into VAPs. The procedure involves a sequence of free-radical reactions that are produced by heat and electricity. This system effectively converts bamboo dust into VAPs in an environmentally friendly and sustainable manner.
