Curved Nanographene Featuring Two sp3 Stereocenters via Oxidative Cyclodehydrogenation with Aryl Rearrangement
Curved nanographene <b>1</b>, featuring two sp3 stereocenters, was synthesized through a Scholl-type oxidative cyclodehydrogenation accompanied by an unexpected aryl rearrangement. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction revealed that two sp3 carbons in the fused polycyclic skeleton induce pronounced distortion, enforcing an almost orthogonal orientation between the two aromatic sheets. These stereocenters endow <b>1</b> with inherent chirality and remarkable configurational stability. The enantiomers of <b>1</b> were successfully resolved and displayed well-defined, mirror-image circular dichroism spectra.
