Primary immune‐mediated neutropenia as part of a relapse of previously diagnosed Evans syndrome in a dog
Abstract A 7‐year and 10‐month‐old, male, neutered, mixed‐breed dog presented for a collapsing event, pallor, petechiation, pigmented urine and lethargy. Evans syndrome with non‐associative immune‐mediated haemolytic anaemia (IMHA) and primary immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) was diagnosed and treated successfully with combination therapy of prednisone and mycophenolate mofetil. The patient experienced a relapse of ITP with new development of primary immune‐mediated neutropenia (IMN) but not anaemia, approximately 6 months after discontinuation of immunosuppressive therapy. The patient was treated successfully with prednisone and mycophenolate mofetil and remained in remission on long‐term therapy.
