APPLICATION OF THE GEORGE STIGLER MODEL TO ESTIMATE RESERVE WAGES IN THE LABOR MARKET
The article is devoted to the application of J. Stigler's mathematical model for assessing the reserve wage in the labor market of the Lipetsk region. The study is aimed at identifying imbalances between the expectations of job seekers and employers' offers, as well as determining the factors influencing employment. The main goal of the work is to analyze the reserve wage using J. Stigler's model and propose solutions to improve the efficiency of employment centers. The study used mathematical methods, including J. Stigler's job search model, as well as an analysis of statistical data for the Lipetsk region for 2024. Based on the calculations of the reserve wage, analysis of job search costs and optimization of search time, structural imbalances were identified, such as a discrepancy between the number of vacancies and the number of resumes. As a result of the work, measures were proposed to reduce barriers to employment, including improving the conditions of the job search, improving the qualifications of applicants and optimizing the work of employment centers. Reserve wages play an important role in labour market analysis and employment optimization, and the identified structural imbalances require a comprehensive approach, including optimization of job search costs, improving the skills of the unemployed, and adapting the expectations of job seekers.
