CLINICAL AND PHARMACOLOGICAL STRATEGIES FOR DIURETIC USE IN PEDIATRIC PRACTICE
Despite the fact that there is long-term experience in the use of diuretics in medicine, the use of diuretics in children is complicated by an insufficient scientific database on the efficacy and safety of this group of drugs, as well as the peculiarities of pharmacokinetics in children. There is only limited information in the literature on clinical studies of diuretics in pediatric practice, as a result of which most pediatricians are forced to extrapolate the data obtained in the treatment of adult patients to children and adolescents. This article provides data that include the mechanism of action, the pharmacokinetics of various groups of diuretics, and approaches for use in pediatric patients with certain conditions and diseases.
