EFFECT OF RHAPONTICUM UNIFLORUM EXTRACT ON THE MORPHOFUNCTIONAL STATE OF THE BRAIN DURING PROLONGED ADMINISTRATION OF SCOPOLAMINE

The effect of Rhaponticum uniflorum dry extract on the morphofunctional state of the brain during prolonged scopolamine intoxication was assessed. Morphological examination revealed a decrease in the number of pyknotic neurons in the brain of animals treated with R. uniflorum. It was found that the R. uniflorum extract at a dose of 100 mg/kg increased the activity of catalase by 65%, glutathione peroxidase by 101%, glutathione reductase by 63% in the brain of white rats. Thus, the extract of R. uniflorum under conditions of prolonged scopolamine intoxication has a neuroprotective effect, stimulating the endogenous antioxidant system of rats.
