Correction: Modelling endurance in free-ranging animals using tracking collars: insights from domestic hunting dogs

An ethics statement was missing in J. Exp. Biol. (2025) 228, jeb250259 (doi:10.1242/jeb.250259).Although ethical consent was not required, the paper did not explicitly state this, so explanatory text has been added to the Materials and Methods. The new text in the ‘Dataset’ section is shown below. For this study, dogs were volunteered by their owners and equipped over one or multiple sessions (up to 16) with high-frequency GNSS sensors (Renkforce GT-730; 1 Hz; dimension 29×76×18 mm; mass 34 g; positional error <20 m; Duncan et al., 2013). All GNSS data were independently collected by hunters, who temporarily equipped their own dogs for the duration of the hunt, for tracking purposes, and later agreed to share the data with the Office Français de la Biodiversité (OFB) for retrospective analysis. As such, the study does not fall within the scope of animal experimentation as defined by the European Directive (Article 1, indent 5a, p. 7) or French law (Code rural: Art. R. 214-88 p. 23) and no specific ethical authorisation was required. As this dataset was not initially designed for any study, it did not contain information such as age or sex. Nonetheless, a total of 361 initial hunting sessions were kept as breed name was present. The authors apologise for this omission. Both the online and PDF versions of the article have been updated.
