Research highlights
This article provided an overview of Prognostic Factor Research (PFR) in Homoeopathy, with a focus on Condition-Confined PFR (CC-PFR) and findings from six CC-PFR studies during COVID-19.In this, homoeopathic literature was reviewed on PFR in Homoeopathy, which summarised six CC-PFR studies conducted during the COVID-19 pandemic. It also analysed study methods, challenges, outcomes, and implications for future research.Key findings of this article included that the ten most frequently indicated medicines identified through CC-PFR were Bryonia, Arsenicum album, Pulsatilla, Gelsemium, Belladonna, Hepar sulphuris, Nux vomica, Phosphorus, Rhus toxicodendron. Each remedy was associated with a combination of common symptoms that together became specific enough for reliable remedy selection, and differentiation between remedies was achieved through analysis of symptom patterns across patient subgroups. The model was reproducible, and outcomes were validated during subsequent COVID-19 waves that led to the development of a mini-repertory and a repertorisation app based on CC-PFR findings, aimed at supporting clinical decision-making.However, these studies revealed key issues. The main problems were the reliability of observations, identification of biases and assessing causality. The quality of PFR data depends on the scientific skills of practitioners, who are typically not trained researchers. Thus, they require additional training in data collection, methods, management of bias and causal analysis.Comments: In this study, Prognostic factors were taken into consideration in prescribing medicines.CC-PFR not only narrows PFR to patients with the same condition, increasing precision in medicinesymptom correlation and reducing complexity, but also enhances clinical accuracy by improving the use of common symptoms and minimising reliance
