SHAPING AND DEVELOPMENT OF ADULT SKILLS AS A CHALLENGE FOR THE EDUCATION SYSTEM IN POLAND
<ns3:p>The aim of the article is to present the challenges facing the education system when it comes to shaping and developing adult skills, which are indicated by national studies on strategic skills. The research was based on an analysis of the content of such strategic documents as the OECD Skills Strategy Poland: Assessment and Recommendations or the Integrated Skills Strategy 2030. Empirical data on the level of skills of adults and those who will soon be on the threshold of adulthood were taken from the results of the PIAAC and PISA surveys. On the other hand, data from 2022 presenting adult learning come from the publication of the Central Statistical Office. As a result of the conducted research, it was indicated that the formation and development of adult skills is part of the essence of the policy for lifelong learning. Therefore, it can be concluded that the challenge for the education system in Poland in the discussed aspect is lifelong learning, the success of which depends on the dissemination of validation of non-formal and informal learning, proper diagnosis of the needs of adults and adjustment of the education or training offer to meet the reported needs, as well as the preparation of staff supporting adult learning.</ns3:p>
