UVEÍTES ANTERIORES ASSOCIADAS A DOENÇAS SISTÊMICAS: UMA REVISÃO SISTEMÁTICA

ABSTRACT Introduction: Anterior uveitis associated with systemic diseases is a significant cause of ocular impairment and can lead to vision loss if untreated. Axial spondyloarthritis and viral uveitis, such as those caused by HSV and VZV, are key examples. Managing these conditions is challenging, especially with the advent of biological therapies and the need for precise diagnoses. Early identification and appropriate treatment are crucial to minimize visual morbidity and improve patient outcomes. Objective: To systematically review the available literature on anterior uveitis associated with systemic diseases, focusing on clinical manifestations, differential diagnoses, and therapeutic approaches, and to discuss the implications of these associations for clinical management. Methods: A systematic literature review was conducted using PubMed and Scopus databases, filtering for studies published within the last 6 years and of high methodological quality in English. Results and Discussion: Seven articles were selected for inclusion in this study. The discussion on anterior uveitis associated with systemic diseases highlights the complexity and diversity of these conditions, which significantly impact patient diagnosis and treatment. Prevalence and characteristics of uveitis vary with the associated systemic disease, requiring specific diagnostic and therapeutic approaches. Effective treatment depends on early identification and multidisciplinary management, utilizing innovative therapies such as JAK inhibitors and biologics. Personalization of treatment and ongoing monitoring are essential to prevent complications and improve visual prognosis. Conclusion: The management of anterior uveitis associated with systemic diseases is complex and requires an integrated approach. Treatment efficacy depends on understanding the specific characteristics of each systemic condition and collaboration between ophthalmologists and rheumatologists. The development of new therapies and evidence-based guidelines is crucial for optimizing the management of these uveitides and improving patient quality of life. Keywords: Anterior Uveitis. Systemic Diseases. Ocular Inflammation. Immunomodulatory Therapy. Autoimmune Uveitis.
