A Single-Layer Dual-band Filtering Antenna for 5G application
This work introduces a compact single-layer antenna that simultaneously supports dual-band filtering characteristics tailored for emerging 5G scenarios. The design integrates radiation and filtering structures within a compact form factor using etched slots and symmetric branches. Two slots are etched into the ground plane and a low-frequency resonance point and a wideband were introduced. The configuration incorporates a rectangular patch, FR4 substrate, and strategically etched ground structures, including a wide rectangular slot and an inverted Y-shaped bifurcated stub, as well as two narrow slots. The inverted Y-circled-shaped branches not only provides a high-frequency resonant point, but also introduces two radiation nulls to achieve filtering response in upper stopband. These features collectively generate one low-frequency and two high-frequency radiation nulls, enhancing selectivity through spatial current cancellation. Finally, the filtering antenna achieved an impedance bandwidth of 32% at a center frequency of 3.10GHz and an impedance bandwidth of 7.5% at a center frequency of 4.89GHz. In addition, three radiation nulls appear at 1.41, 3.96, 6.96 GHz on both edges of the operating band.
