EDUFUSION: Augmented Reality for Education

Augmented Reality (AR) offers a compelling solution to improve conceptual clarity in science education by integrating interactive digital elements into real-world learning environments. This project introduces an AR-based chemistry learning application focused on the Periodic Table (PT), a topic that many students struggle to grasp through traditional instruction. The application allows users to scan physical or digital image markers to trigger interactive 3D molecular models, accompanied by voice-over explanations and supplementary educational content. Built using Unity, Vuforia, and Blender, the system was tested under varied lighting conditions and marker sizes, demonstrating stable performance, accurate marker detection, and reliable audio synchronization. A structured evaluation with over 40 participants confirmed the app’s effectiveness in enhancing user engagement, understanding, and motivation. The majority of users reported that the AR experience was more intuitive, educational, and enjoyable compared to textbook-based learning. These findings support the integration of AR into science curricula as a means to transform abstract concepts into tangible, interactive experiences that support deeper learning.
