Design and Analysis of a Metamaterial-Loaded Circularly Polarized Microstrip Antenna with WLAN Band Integrating PLM
This research focuses on the design and analysis of a circularly polarized microstrip antenna operating at 5.8 GHz for WLAN applications, enhanced using metamaterials. A novel metamaterial unit cell is incorporated as a parasitic patch to enhance key performance metrics such as gain, bandwidth, and axial ratio, thereby improving the efficiency of wireless communication. The use of circular polarization reduces polarization mismatches and mitigates multipath interference, ensuring stable signal transmission. The proposed design achieves an operating frequency of 5.8 GHz with a return loss of -35 dB and a voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR) of 1.25, indicating excellent impedance matching and minimal signal reflection. A return loss of -10 dB is generally considered efficient for wireless applications, ensuring adequate signal transmission with minimal power loss. Additionally, Siemens Teamcenter is employed for Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) to streamline design, analysis, and data management processes. The integration of PLM facilitates efficient collaboration, version control, and structured workflow management. Simulation results and performance assessments confirm the antenna's enhanced transmission characteristics at 5.8 GHz, demonstrating notable efficiency improvements and suitability for WLAN systems. This study underscores the benefits of combining metamaterials with PLM methodologies to advance antenna design, offering a promising approach for future wireless communication technologies.
