Area Adaptive Air Quality Monitoring System using FPGA
With increasing concerns about environmental pollution and its ill effects on public health, the need for efficient and adaptable air quality monitoring systems has become critical. This project proposes a novel area-adaptive air quality monitoring system designed to address these challenges by utilizing FPGA technology. The system utilizes an Zynq FPGA board for real-time processing of environmental data collected from a network of air quality sensors. These sensors measure essential parameters such as particulate matter (PM2.5), carbon monoxide (CO) and nitrogen dioxide (NO2). The system has the unique ability of being locally adaptive which would, whenever necessary, reduce the resolution of monitoring based on the environmental conditions and the thresholds related given air quality. This project is developed to be scalable, low-cost, and achievable for real-time air quality monitoring with accuracy that is area specific. This helps in the reduction of people being exposed to harmful pollutants, improving public health and supports urban planning. The design is eco-friendly creating healthier smarter and more liveable communities for everyone.
