An Intelligent MQTT-based Multi-Sensor Platform for Real-Time Environmental Data Acquisition and Visualization

In the context of smart environments, environmental parameter monitoring in real time is of prime importance to maintain health, safety, and optimal utilization of resources. The design and development of a cost-effective, IoT-based system for monitoring the environment using various sensors and MQTT protocol for smooth data transmission are presented in this paper. The system incorporates a DHT11 sensor for temperature and humidity, and a BMP180 sensor for pressure and LDR sensor to detect variations in ambient light levels. All the sensors are connected to a microcontroller that is Wi-Fi enabled and serves as the central processing unit, consolidating sensor data and sending it to a cloud-based MQTT broker (HiveMQ). The information is then presented on an easy-to-use dashboard on smart devices or PCs, allowing remote, real-time observation and analysis. The system's architecture lends itself to scalability and flexibility, making it ideal for use in smart cities, indoor air monitoring, and industrial settings.
