Digital and Intelligent Transformation of Ancient Folk Documents and Construction of a Document Geographic Distribution System : Taking Folk Documents in Zhouning County, Fujian Province, as a Case Study

This paper comprehensively employs metadata repository construction, ontology modeling, and Geographic Information System (GIS) technology to construct a digital intelligence platform for ancient folk documents, using 5,411 documents from Zhouning County, Fujian Province, as the research object. Existing research methods for ancient folk documents have limitations in integrating spatial information and revealing deep connections. The methods employed in this thesis effectively address information heterogeneity, enhance semantic understanding, and achieve precise spatial mapping and visualization analysis of the geographical distribution of ancient folk documents. The research findings reveal that the distribution of Zhouning County's documents exhibits a"dense in the west, sparse in the east"spatial characteristic, spanning 27 villages and encompassing eight document types. These are related to natural environment, socio-economic conditions, and folk beliefs. This work provides a new research method for uncovering historical social patterns and advancing the digitalization of folk documents.
