Design of a Filtering High Gain Dielectric Resonator Antenna Array with Sidelobe Suppression

This paper presents a <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">${4 \times 4}$</tex> higher-order mode substrate integrated dielectric resonator antenna filtering array working in Ku band with enhanced gain, low-sidelobe and filtering capabilities. The DRA unit design, array element spacing, and unequal power divider feeding network are jointly optimized to simultaneously suppress sidelobes and achieve filtering functions. The proposed array demonstrates a gain range of 21.8-22.5 dBi with sidelobe levels suppressed below <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$-13\ \text{dB}$</tex> across the operating band. This high-gain filtering antenna array, operating in Ku-band frequencies, demonstrates exceptional potential for next-generation satellite communication systems requiring integrated filtering and directional radiation capabilities.

Abstract

This paper presents a <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">${4 \times 4}$</tex> higher-order mode substrate integrated dielectric resonator antenna filtering array working in Ku band with enhanced gain, low-sidelobe and filtering capabilities. The DRA unit design, array element spacing, and unequal power divider feeding network are jointly optimized to simultaneously suppress sidelobes and achieve filtering functions. The proposed array demonstrates a gain range of 21.8-22.5 dBi with sidelobe levels suppressed below <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$-13\ \text{dB}$</tex> across the operating band. This high-gain filtering antenna array, operating in Ku-band frequencies, demonstrates exceptional potential for next-generation satellite communication systems requiring integrated filtering and directional radiation capabilities.
