A Self-Adaptive Metasurface for DoA Detection and Normal Reflection

This study introduces a novel self-adaptive metasurface capable of autonomously detecting the direction of arrival (DoA) of electromagnetic waves and stabilizing their reflection to the normal direction in real time. Unlike traditional approaches that rely on external sensors or computationally intensive algorithms, our design employs a streamlined phase comparator and lookup table (LUT) mechanism for efficient, controller-free operation. Simulation results validate robust normal reflection for incident angles spanning 0° to +50°. This metasurface offers a low-complexity, energy-efficient solution for applications in wireless communication and radar systems. Further details, including experimental validation, are provided in our extended study [1].
