A Broadband High-Gain Stackable Substrate-Integrated Dielectric Resonator Antenna

A novel stackable substrate-integrated dielectric resonator antenna (SIDRA) element featuring wideband and high-gain performance is presented for V-band communication in this paper. The stacked design significantly enhances the radiation performance of the dielectric resonator antenna (DRA), while the substrate-integrated configuration ensures the stacked architecture introduces no additional fabrication errors. Furthermore, four sets of metal vias are integrated around the dielectric resonator to improve the antenna pattern by regulating the electric field. The proposed antenna element achieves an impedance bandwidth of 22.2% (60.1-75 GHz), a peak gain of 12.2 dBi, and maintains stable radiation patterns across the entire operating bandwidth. Due to the these advantages, the proposed antenna is an attractive candidate for V -band applications, such as ultra-high-speed Wi-Fi and high-density communications.
