A Three-Layer Hemispherical Luneburg Lens Antenna for Sub-6G Mobile Communications
This paper presents a hemispherical Luneburg lens antenna for Sub-6G mobile communications. It is a three- layer hemispherical dielectric lens with a conducting reflector and six dual-polarized cross-dipole feeds. The proposes hemispherical Luneburg lens is suitable for multibeam base-station antenna and provides a way to reduce the weight and manufacturing cost comparing to a spherical lens antenna. The proposed three-layer hemispherical Luneburg lens antenna operates within the frequency range of 1.5 to 2.7 GHz with a 120° total beam coverage for six feeds and a maximum simulated gain of 21.2 dBi.
