A Broadband Dual-Polarized Magneto-Electric Dipole Antenna for Millimeter-Wave Communication
For next-generation millimeter-wave (mm-wave) communication, the letter introduces a new magneto-electric (ME) dipole antenna with dual-polarized and broadband capabilities. The antenna consists of eight shorted patches, metallic via and the ground, which are fed by two vertical L-shape probes. The metallic vias provide a conductive pathway for the microstrip feed lines to interact with the L-shaped probes. An impedance bandwidth of 57.1% (25–45 GHz) is demonstrated by the simulation, accompanied by port isolation exceeding 18 dB across the whole operational band and stable realized gain (>6 dBi) over frequency, and radiation patterns exhibit symmetric broadside radiation. Such performance makes it highly suitable for 5G mm-wave communication.
